All lives matter

Mandy Rittmann
EUNICE ANN VAN ZYL WRITES:

When I became still before the Lord regarding this letter, the Holy Spirit brought to my remembrance the words of the old precious hymn:

“When I survey the wondrous cross on which the prince of glory died, my richest gain I count but loss and pour contempt on all my pride.”

The year 2020. The year that I thought there will be no protest marches in the streets due to Corona virus.

Then came the killing of a black man by a white policeman and as always, when the United States is involved, the whole world sat up and people took to the streets to be part of the “Black lives matter” movement.

Over the years, black people have suffered more abuse than other groups. Which is truly regrettable.

In the United States the abuse was against native Americans and black people. In Australia against the Aborigines. In New Zealand against the Maoris. In South Africa and South-West Africa against black and brown people.

But man’s inhumanity to man is not just an issue of white and black.

In the holocaust Jewish people were the target. And who of us will ever forget the genocide in Rwanda.

The question that many people who are not black, may ask at this time is: How much does my life matter?

There is a list of sad, tragic evil behaviour in our time. What is always at the top, is the sexual abuse and murder of innocent children by adult people. With the emphasis on innocent.

The ongoing murder and abuse against women by boyfriends and husbands. Where does this anger against women come from?

God help us!

When will the killings on farms in South Africa stop?

I was born in Pniel, a small village in the Western Cape where only coloured people lived.

It is the prayer of my heart that people will find their security and peace in the knowledge that our Heavenly Father gave the Lord Jesus Christ, His precious Son to die for all of us on the cross, because all our lives matter to Him.

John 3:16, Holy Bible New King James

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

We cannot allow Satan to completely steal our joy and weaken us because of the present situations in the world.

We must remember what makes us laugh.

Like “Big Momma” singing:

“Oh happy day, Oh happy day.

When Jesus washed,

He washed my sins away . . .”
