Afgetrede polisiekommissaris sterf

Afgetrede polisiekommissaris Jasper Adriaan Jacobus Meyer het Woensdag in die vroeë oggendure by sy huis in Windhoek gesterf.

Volgens 'n mediaverklaring van die polisiehoof, lt.genl. Sebasatian Ndeitunga, het Meyer in 2016 op vroeë aftrede gegaan.

Meyer het by Nampol in 1990 aangesluit en by verskeie polisiekantore gewerk, naamlik by Buitepos vanaf 1991 tot Desember 1995 en op Oshakati vanaf 1995 tot April 2006. In Mei 2006 is hy as die streekskommissaris van die Hardapstreek aangewys, 'n posisie wat hy tot in Oktober 2015 beklee het. Daarna het hy in die kantoor van die inspekteur-generaal gewerk tot en met sy aftrede op 30 April 2016.

Volgens Ndeitunga was Meyer 'n hardwerkende polisiebeampte wat sy pligte met entoesiasme, toegewydheid en dissipline uitgevoer het.

Meyer word deur sy vrou, hoofinsp. Victoria Meyer, en dogter, me. Ellanie Meyer, oorleef.

'n Gedenkdiens sal Dinsdag by die Israel Patrick lyambo Polisiekollege gehou word en sy begrafnis sal Woensdag by die Pionierspark-begraafplaas in Windhoek plaasvind.
