A rejection of traditional healing

RICHARD BROODRYK WRITES:A rebuttal of the article ("A new perspective on Traditional Healing in Namibia", Namibian Sun, 5 December 2017) written and submitted by Luca Milanesi.We are informed that a 26-year old, so-called traditional healer was raised in a Christian family and how he, through dreams and visions from his ancestors (they also appeared to him), was called into traditional healing.Anyone who is something of a Christian will be able to point out the absurdity of such a statement. Firstly you cannot be a Christian and believe in ancestral spirits. This is a gross contradiction and the writer of the article should have done more research on the matter. Secondly, this "healer" is either a Christian or a heathen. A heathen will believe in ancestral spirits whereas the greater Christian community knows that they are also known as "spirit-guides" or simply put, demons.The Bible is full of examples where these spirits or demons communicate with people. One of the great things about being a Christian is, when we are confronted with such an ancestral spirit or demon, we cast it out in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth; we bind it and command it to go to waterless places and not to bother us at all.Mr Mukwaita Wa Mnadjanima rightly contributes the spread of Christianity to colonialism but so very wrongly wants all Africans to spiritually connect to their African roots and he believes he can help them with their spirituality. As a Christian I know the terrible dangers of exposing people to demon worship, because that is simply what ancestor worship is, demon worship.Why in the industrialized nations do we not see ancestor worship? The truth of the matter is that, contrary to what heathens believe, we know that it is demon worship and we have cast out many such.A further mistake is to equate traditional healing with heritage or culture as his artist and actress friends allude to. When you enter into the spirit realm you enter into religion. When dealing with spirits there are only the following kind.Firstly the one and only Holy Spirit who is also God, secondly angelic spirits who serve God and humanity, thirdly evil spirits or demons who do the work of Satan and torture humanity, and fourthly the born again Christian who dies, his or her spirit, not soul, that is in heaven.When people die they die. Their bodies are laid in the ground and their souls go to hell and if they are born again Christians, their spirits go to heaven. Notice I use the term "soul" for those whom are not Christian. A study of the Bible reveals the difference.It is interesting to note that African students, and they are not the only ones, will never go to traditional "healers". Throughout history it has been proven over and over again that such healers, sangomas or by whatever name you want to call them, are liars and charlatans who simply steal from people.A Christian's faith is simply put. "If you believe the truth, it will be truth to you and if you believe the lie it will become a truth to you with severe consequences."Regarding herbalists. Herbs are good in food and many herbs have a certain value in healing. Agreed, but not all.Of course sexuality would play a role. The traditional healer will use sex as his one tool to gratify his own lust and it has nothing to do with spirituality!Anybody can be a healer. Did you not write that only those with a special calling could be a healer? Would that not in any case be male or female?A Christian has more power in his little pinky than the "strongest" healer. Demonic power only affects those who believe the lie.(Letter abridged. - Editor)
