A knack for things that are pleasing to the eye
Madeline Heyman is the Spectiles by Pupkewitz branch manager

Madeline Heyman, who trained as a fashion designer, has turned her many years of experience to interior design. She says instead of making people look beautiful, she now helps to make their homes and spaces look beautiful.
She previously worked at Browns Jewellers as a merchandising manager, making all the many retail stores beautiful from interior to display and window dressing.
“My journey started with excitement; recreating and adding life to the showroom was so much fun with my team. Working with a creative and insightful team is a daily blessing. Building trusting relationships and creating beautiful homes together with our clients is such an amazing experience. Happy to inspire where we can,” Heyman describes working with Spectiles by Pupkewitz Megabuild.
Heyman says delivering excellent service is a daily accomplishment. Being thanked by grateful clients is the best part of her job, she says.
Daily duties
As an interior and exterior designer, she engages with clients, listens to their needs, and conceptualises what they want by putting it all together.
Some of the things she has learned while working for the company are that people are unique and do not think the same. “Keeping that in mind, you learn to respect every unique idea and person.”
When she is not busy with interior or exterior design, she loves spending time with her husband and two children. After spending two wonderful years with them at home and working again, she treasures every moment with them. “My me-time is having a nice long jog early in the morning when everything is quiet just before the sun rises, or catching up with my girlfriends,” she says.
Heyman says pursuing a career in interior and exterior design is rewarding.
“It’s practical designing combined with aesthetically pleasing, seeing things before others can gives you the advantage of adding your unique touch to a space. If you think you have what it takes and really feel in your heart you were made to do this, then do it, you won’t know if don’t try,” she says.
Heyman adds that if you are interested in interior and exterior design, you can ask a local designer for an opportunity to shadow them for a week and get a feeling of what they do before deciding.
