A driven Procurement Officer

Namwenyo holds a Diploma in Business Administration, Honours and Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management with Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST). Currently, she is employed as a Procurement Officer at National Housing Enterprise (NHE).

Her job in detail ensures compliance with the Public Procurement Act, 2015, regulations and guidelines. And initiate a procurement method on receipt of a purchase requisition. In preparing the annual procurement and individual procurement plans that a public entity intends to carry out during the financial year. This requires the completion of bidding documents for different procurement pf goods and services to send to the suppliers for bidding. Then source for bids and award small value procurement bids. Monitoring of departmental budgets to ensure that purchases are within budget and assist to manage all procurement contracts of the organisations.

“I also provide technical and Procurement input to various departments as well as assist in serving as secretary to the Bid Evaluation Committee; assist with the channel of communication for the organisation’s procurement activities both internal and external,” she says.

“I am glad that as Procurement professional we are guided by the Public Procurement Act 15 of 2015, though it was a challenge for us to learn and navigate through the new norms of how things or bidding processes should be done as per the new procurement act that came into play and was implemented in the year 2017,” she adds.

A day in office

She carries out different activities which entail assisting and advising the buying department/division on the availability of resources, market prices and conditions, production delivery and performance lead times. Prepare purchase order forms on the systems; processing invoices for payment to account payable; book travel and accommodation for staff; send purchase orders to suppliers; receive purchased goods from various suppliers, etc.

She is inspired by young women and men who work tirelessly despite the pandemic, more especially those who are into agriculture, manufacturing and creativity to ensure our country is economy hoisted as manufacturing and agriculture are the best drivers of economic growth. “Those working hard and truly care and eager to one day see Namibia prosper economically and be able to sustain itself and achieve reduced import of goods and services and increased exports of goods and services,” Namwenyo says.

She wants to keep growing and improve her career and to never stop learning from the best so that one day she becomes a valuable Procurement Manager with integrity.

Her best phase in life was when she welcomed her two beautiful children into this world and being the best mom, a whole life-changing experience and also when I obtained my qualifications. Blessings indeed.
