Die Namibiese polisie het verlede week beslag op 13 olifanttande en twee renosterhorings gelê.

Volgens statistieke wat die polisie se eenheid vir beskermde hulpbronne (PRU) en die ministerie van die omgewing en toerisme se eenheid vir intelligensie en ondersoeke vir wildmisdaad saamgestel het, is 19 mense tussen 12 en 18 Augustus in verband met agt wildmisdaadsake in hegtenis geneem. Ses verdagtes is verlede week in verband met olifant­stropery of ivoorsmokkelary of pogings daartoe in hegtenis geneem en vyf ­verdagtes in verband met ­renosterstropery of -horingsmokkelary of pogings daartoe.

Benewens die 13 olifanttande en twee renosterhorings, is beslag ook op twee lewende ietermagôs, twee ietermagôvelle en een vlakvark gelê. Sewe vuurwapens, 87 ammunisie en twee voertuie is gekonfiskeer.
