Every year a small group of students get elected as representative council known as SRC. Being an SRC is a huge part of our school and fosters leadership among students. These leaders help create a safe environment to allow other students to engage with one other. They also act as a voice for the students and present their problems and/or interests to the school board which provides a better learning environment. The voting process was done through a voting survey and students chose a certain number of candidates they thought would qualify for the role. In the end the students with majority votes were then announced. The teachers that help out with the SRC are Mr Coetzee and Mrs Venter. They are there for guidance and making sure the students are doing a proper job within their assigned tasks.

A few new students have been newly appointed for SCR for the year 2022. The total number of students chosen for the following year is twenty-three. In grade 10 we have six, grade 11 nine and grade 12 eight students. The head girl and head boy have not yet been announced, neither have the deputy heads, but we are all excited and eagerly waiting to ?nd out. We asked 2 students how the feel about being elected for the following year. AnisaI said “feel honoured that I’ve been chosen to represent my grade on a bigger scale. I de?nitely show a lot of gratitude towards everyone who participated in the voting. Working with my friends is de?nitely really interesting, we have a lot of strong bonds so there is a lot of appreciation for the job and Brumelda said “I am very excited to be an SRC again. I would advise the newly appointed SRC to have a voice. It is important to speak your mind and bond with your fellow members. It’s overwhelming realizing that next year will be my last year as an SRC but I am looking forward to what next year has in store for us.
