His passion and legacy will live on
AN OBITUARY:
Rev Dr Bishop Roy M. Wallace was born on 6 November 1944 at Aliwal North and was married on 3 February 1966. Three children were born namely James, Timothy and Melanie. He now has 12 grand -children and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was born again on 19 May 1966 after spending his student life with “women, wine and song” (his own words). From 1969 he started his full-time ministry for God. He started his Evangelistic and Mission Ministry in 1975. He trusted the Lord for a tent which was miraculously provided. Many people were saved and healed during these Evangelistic Crusades.
He was the founder-president of Gospel Outreach International Church in Windhoek which started in 1985.
He was the first Preacher in Namibia who started a multi-racial church in 1985.
His vision was to “Reach the Un-reached”. He extensively travelled across the continents to spread the message of God.
He obtained his Doctorate at the age of 64 in 2009. His thesis was done on HIV/AIDS and Abstinance. He was the co-author (with Professor Monish) of the book “AIDS and abstinence - managing HIV/AIDS by changing behaviour”. This book was written and published during 2008.
He was the Chairman of Christian Aids Network in Namibia and spread the message of abstinence to reduce the spread of HIV and mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS.
He was ordained as a Bishop on 14 June 2014.
He wrote his own early autobiography, named “Dare to trust God” during 2007. Highlights in this book are his mission trips. He said “Obeying God always has wonderful results” and “To Obey God is cheaper than disobedience”.
He planted several churches in Namibia and internationally. His mission/motto was to “Train and Equip Leaders” through several Bible Schools together with Pastor Udo Wahl as Dean. He trained many pastors and other leaders who now have their own ministries.
He was a good example of perseverance and faithfulness towards God's calling for the furtherance of His Kingdom. He was faithful till the end during his 53 years of serving God. His legacy of working for the Kingdom of God will continue.
We honour the life of Bishop Dr Roy Wallace who has served God and the people with passion and dedication for decades. He was a true warrior for Christ. A leader, mentor, father and friend to many. He created ministry opportunities too many. He gave himself freely to plant, build churches, support and equip pastors in ministry. He impacted many leaders to go forward and achieve their God-given mandate.
Even during his last days, in hospital, he prayed for two nurses whom God healed, to their joy and astonishment, for God's glory.
May his life and death inspire us all to walk worthy of the calling (Ephesians 4:1).
