Endings are inevitable

Every good thing has to come to an end in order for greater things to take place.

It has been a true honour to write for and to lead Academia Secondary School's editorial team, however, my journey as editor has come to an end.

Since being appointed as editor of Demian Times in September 2019, I have been tasked to take the school beyond its fences along with maintaining its reputation. The responsibility seemed too big for a girl who had minimal knowledge of journalism and even less on heading a newspaper, but with the encouragement and support from my fellow learners and the 2019/2020 editorial team, everything became manageable.

We had even greater support from our co-ordinating teacher, Miss Coetzee, who was always there to guide me when I felt incompetent. The stories would not have been told right if it was not for her guidance.

Demian Times has been a learning experience for me and I believe for my fellow senior journalists, who also get to write their last stories for the school's newspaper. Appreciation and acknowledgement go to Quintin Swartbooi, Ututjinda Kavendjaa and Camilla Amadhila for their service and dedication to Demian Times. We will all leave the school this year.

I hope and trust that the succeeding members will follow in our footsteps and put Academia Secondary School on the map.
