Crime a ‘significant risk’ to business

Jo-Maré Duddy – Nearly half of businesses surveyed by the Economic Policy Research Association (EPRA) says crime in Namibia poses a “significant risk” to their businesses.
In addition, 38% of respondents say that crime poses “some risk” to the businesses, EPRA said in a statement this afternoon.
The majority of respondents – 84% - do not trust the Namibian police to conduct timeous and effective investigations.
EPRA conducted the survey in November 2020 to better understand the obstacles to economic growth in the country.
In total 559 business entities were approached, of which more than 40% responded. Around 20% of respondents were SMEs. Around 30% of respondents create annual revenue of N$10 million or more.
