Young Graduate remains focused on his dream to own his garage one day

Automotive Engineering requires many building blocks and tools. To produce real-world results, one must practically apply mathematics and sciences to tangible problems and scenarios.
Katjikurupa Katjitundu is a 27-year-old Namibian College of Open Learning (NAMCOL) Technical Vocational Training (Tvet), graduate. He graduated with a certificate in Automotive Engineering which acquaints him to be able to inspect, maintain, and repair cars and light trucks.
The program that had 75 students since its initiation in 2016 out of 25 who wrote the examinations only 23 students graduated and Katjitundu was one of the successful students.
He describes his journey at Namcol very fruitful. The vibrant Katjitundu has a positive character and can differentiate between intelligence and common sense. Katjitundu who was born and raised in Windhoek is a hardworking individual, committed and determined to what he sets his mind to.
The young man who has nine siblings, he enrolled in the course towards the end of 2016 and he says he has a love for cars as his late dad also had a lot of knowledge about cars which has instilled in him a sense of inspiration and desire to work with cars.
“Namcol is a very important institution in our society. This qualification has opened my mind to possibilities in life and I am now self-employed as a Part-Time Mechanic, as well as a Driver at the Malaysian Embassy in Namibia”. He emphasizes.
He strongly has the desire to own a garage of his own one day. He extends his gratitude towards Namcol as this opened a lot of doors for him and for giving him this lifelong opportunity. "This college has shown me that all is possible and that it is there to take education to the people. So, friends, family and acquaintances, please apply to study at Namcol and you will not regret.”
The young individual strongly believes that NAMCOL is a lifesaver, a path maker and the dream of this country. “Thus, it is high time we lift ourselves as young people and knock that Namcol door to the ground, of which am certain that it will open on the first knock, and study hard for your future,” he says.
