The art of public speaking
Public speaking experts shared their experience and knowledge at a workshop.
A workshop aimed at growing Namibia’s public speaking industry and helping aspirant public speakers market themselves was recently held at Zenzi's Coffee Shop on Independence Avenue in Windhoek.
The event was hosted by Popyeni Kaxuxwena, an author, trainer, and public speaking expert.
Harrison Msimuko, owner of the Articulate Academy and a featured speaker at the event, highlighted that when it comes to being a public speaker, "there are different ways that one can get paid and not only focus on money as a form of payment."
He advised public speakers and representatives to charge according to what they will contribute to a particular event.
"I focus on several factors when I charge, mainly the research I conduct and the way I uniquely represent that company. This is why it is important to understand your value and what you bring to the table," Msimuko said.
Kaxuxwena told attendees: "As an individual who is trying to do public speaking, you need to know what you can capitalise on and what approach you want to take, either logic or emotional."
