Theresia Haiyambo takes on marketing at Alexforbes
Since joining Alexforbes as a marketing assistant in August 2025, Theresia Haiyambo has been developing her professional skills in marketing, communication and campaign coordination.
With a degree in marketing and an honours degree in communication from the Namibia University of Science and Technology, Haiyambo entered the professional environment with an academic foundation that she is now applying to real-world projects.
Her interest in marketing developed during her final year at ELCIN Nkurenkuru High School in the Kavango West region. Drawn to the combination of creativity, communication and strategy, she deliberately pursued the field to understand how brands connect with audiences and build stronger relationships.
“My journey at Alexforbes has been an exciting period of learning, growth and personal development,” she told Careers.
“It has given me the opportunity to move beyond the theoretical knowledge I gained through my studies and experience how marketing works in a professional environment,” she added.
In her role, Haiyambo supports the coordination and execution of marketing and communication activities that contribute to the organisation’s brand and business objectives. Her responsibilities include assisting with campaigns, conducting research, preparing communication materials, supporting events and employee engagement initiatives, and liaising with internal teams and external service providers.
The role has also taught her that effective marketing requires more than creative ideas. Planning, teamwork, attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines are equally important.
“One of my biggest accomplishments so far has been the personal and professional growth that has come with being entrusted with greater responsibility,” she said.
Beyond her professional responsibilities, Haiyambo enjoys exploring creative interests such as graphic design and social media. These interests complement her enthusiasm for a field that continually offers new ways to engage audiences and communicate ideas.
She encourages young people considering marketing careers to seek practical experience, remain curious and be open to learning new skills.
“Your qualifications provide an important foundation, but working on real projects helps you understand how to apply your knowledge, solve problems, work with others and develop confidence in your abilities,” she said.
Her advice is to embrace opportunities to learn, ask questions and accept responsibility, even when starting small.
“You are allowed to be a work in progress while still being proud of how far you have come,” Haiyambo said.
