"Hard work always pays." Rouxanne Du Plooy
More than a decade of banking experience
Newly appointed Rouxanne Du Plooy lets Careers in on her 13-year journey.
Bank Windhoek’s newly appointed relationship manager, Rouxanne Du Plooy, was born in Windhoek and matriculated from Windhoek High School. She started her banking career at FNB Namibia at the Oshakati branch. She worked with FNB Namibia for nine years, where she fulfilled several banking roles within the branch environment and then moved to the collateral team.
From the collateral team, Du Plooy was appointed as a relationship analyst for business banking, and then as a relationship manager.
She was then approached for a role as relationship manager at Nedbank Namibia business banking, where she worked for four years. Du Plooy then saw the advert for Bank Windhoek CIB RM and applied. She was appointed to the role on 1 May this year. She has 13 years of banking experience in total.
Enjoy what you do
When asked what motivated her to get into banking, she said, "I enjoy working with people, and what better place than to get to work with the entire company. In CIB, you are exposed to large companies. I enjoy seeing how these entities expand and grow, and being part of this is such a privilege."
July marks three months in her new position.
In this new position, Du Plooy looks forward to working with a bank with different departments that support each other and work towards the same goal. "I cannot wait to see what new clients I will be exposed to," she added. On a day-to-day basis, Du Plooy deals with client meetings, the writing of credit applications and ensuring clients' queries are taken care of, and giving the best advice on banking services and products possible.
"For this, one needs to understand the client’s business model and day-to-day operations, and be the central contact point between the client and the bank," Du Plooy said.
Careers asked Du Plooy what advice she would give to the youth.
"Complete your degree and hard work always pays. Ensure work life and family life is well balanced. Finding peace and being happy with your phase in life is the number one prize."
When she’s not in the office, Du Plooy enjoys playing social netball, running and spending time with her children.
