Granger Trading steps up for better healthcare

Titus Amwele is the managing director and founder of Granger Trading CC, a fully Namibian-owned medical and pharmaceutical supply company.Seeing the challenges many hospitals and clinics faced in accessing timely and affordable medical supplies, Amwele decided to create a business that could fill this critical gap. “I started Granger Trading because I saw a pressing problem in Namibia’s healthcare system: many facilities struggled to get essential supplies on time. I wanted to build a company that could reliably deliver high-quality products nationwide,” he explained.Granger Trading specialises in a comprehensive range of clinical and hospital equipment, including personal protective equipment, stethoscopes, thermometers, orthopaedic and surgical tools, hospital beds, rapid testing kits, disinfectants and medical apparel. Their main clients are public hospitals, clinics and pharmacies across Namibia, with the health ministry being the largest client. The company also serves private medical centres and individual healthcare professionals whenever needed, ensuring broad access to vital medical resources.Amwele holds an honours degree in financial accounting and is currently pursuing a master’s in business administration while advancing his studies in supply chain and logistics at the University of Namibia (Unam).Quality products On quality control, he said: “We prioritise quality by sourcing products from international suppliers certified by ISO and WHO standards. We are also bringing in a director with medical expertise to strengthen our internal quality checks before products reach customers.” This focus ensures that the supplies meet the highest safety and efficacy standards.Since the Covid-19 pandemic, demand for home diagnostic devices like oximeters and blood pressure monitors, along with infection prevention supplies, has surged. “We responded by expanding our product offering and improving our supplier networks to guarantee faster delivery," Amwele explained.Despite these efforts, the company still faces challenges such as price volatility caused by rising global fuel costs, shipping delays and trade tensions, all of which impact product availability and pricing.Trusted partnerLooking ahead, Amwele is ambitious about the future of Granger Trading. “My goal is to position Granger Trading as Namibia’s most trusted medical supplier and to expand into other Southern African countries. I also plan to invest in local training programmes to build procurement and medical supply chain skills within Namibia,” he shared. Beyond his professional commitments, Titus enjoys rugby, outdoor adventures, fitness, and motorsports, balancing a busy career with an active lifestyle.
