Michelle le Roux, Executive Director of Synergi Events, embodies the spirit of creativity, leadership and dedication that defines Namibia’s growing events industry. With nearly three decades of experience, she continues to inspire through her hands-on approach and commitment to excellence.Michelle's journey in the events management industry began in 1996, and by 2000 she had founded her first company. Her path was driven by a love for working with people, organising experiences and witnessing the rewarding outcome of a successful event. “It’s the passion for people and the end result that keeps me going,” she says.Without formal studies in event management, Michelle credits life experience and determination for shaping her leadership style. “Only life skills and a passion to make it happen,” she notes, emphasising that success in this field requires resilience, creativity and adaptability.Leading by exampleAt Synergi Events, Michelle’s leadership style is both approachable and practical. She describes herself as “easy-going but walk while you talk”, a philosophy rooted in learning through experience and leading by doing. Her daily motivation stems from the dynamic nature of the industry. “In events, nothing is cast in stone. There are always chances and challenges, which makes each day different.”Under her direction, Synergi Events has established itself as a company dedicated to crafting unforgettable experiences that inspire, connect and celebrate. Whether managing corporate gatherings, expos or community celebrations, the team ensures that every event reflects their core mission of “Excellence in Every Experience.”For Michelle, teamwork is central to that success. “Never work alone. Teamwork is key. Always work harder than your team members and never give up,” she advises. Her approach emphasises gratitude and encouragement, ensuring her team feels valued and motivated. “Always give positive criticism and always say thank you.”Inspiring the next generationAmong her proudest recent achievements is mentoring a young professional in the field. “Seeing how she has grown in such a short period, and knowing she will feel the satisfaction of completing a successful event, is incredibly rewarding.” Looking ahead, Michelle's vision is focused on empowering the next generation. “I want to make youngsters aware that hard work pays off and that you are never too old to learn and grow,” she says.Even after years in the industry, she remains passionate about continuous learning and innovation.For Michell, the defining moments of her career are found in the success of each event. “When you plan for months, work through all the challenges, and your client says ‘thank you,’ that’s when you know why you do what you do.”If she could change one thing in her industry, it would be to instil a deeper respect for the craft among the younger generation. “You have to earn respect, not gain it. Be respectful of each other, with or without a title, and most importantly, love what you do.”Through her leadership, Michelle continues to shape Synergi Events into a hub of creativity, professionalism and passion.
