Enhancing beauty
Catering to everyone
Located on Independence Avenue, Shirley Nails is the newest kid on the block when it comes to beauty parlours.
Shirley Shaanika (30) is the owner and founder of Shirley Nails. The beautician was born in Windhoek and raised in Omaruru, where her vision started to materialise. Initially, Shaanika aimed at just doing nails, but over time, she fell in love with the art of enhancing people's beauty.
When asked what inspired the recent start of her business, she said: “I want to revitalise my community, freedom and passion, and employ the youth.”
Contributing to the youth
The business employs four people, aiding in reducing youth unemployment. “I am very grateful and happy that I was able to open this business and able to help someone earn a living by giving them a job,” Shaanika said.
One of the benefits of Shirley Nails is that they have a wide range of services, not just manicures and pedicures. They also offer lashes, massages, waxing, foot peels, laser, micro-blading and make-up.
Mission and vision
Shirely Nails' mission is to make sure its customers’ needs are met, regardless of their colour or gender. The business has plans to one day expand in order to establish branches not only in Windhoek, but in other parts of the country as well.
The beauty establishment's doors are open to everyone. "Our target market is both men and women who want to take care of their beauty. Our service is limited to none, since we offer multiple services,” Shaanika said.
The business values and emphasises teamwork, as the owner believes that a successful business is not a one-man show and that it is the contribution of various people that makes a business great.
