Cran appoints Johanna Ileka as ICT systems specialist

The Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (Cran) has appointed Johanna Ileka as ICT systems specialist, a role focused on strengthening the organisation’s IT infrastructure as digital demands continue to grow.The appointment reflects the regulator's ongoing emphasis on secure, reliable, and modernised ICT systems that support operational continuity and service delivery.In her new role, Ileka is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and security of Cran’s ICT environment.Her work spans cloud platforms, virtualisation, data centre operations, identity and access management, and system monitoring.She also plays a key role in coordinating backup systems, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes while supporting the organisation’s broader digital transformation efforts.“My role includes cloud platforms, virtualisation, data centre operations, identity access management, and system monitoring,” Ileka explains. “I also coordinate backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity initiatives and contribute to the organisation’s digital transformation efforts to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient systems.”Growing expertiseIleka’s career began in the telecommunications sector, where she developed a strong foundation in end-user service delivery and enterprise ICT operations. Over time, her expertise expanded into systems administration, networking, cloud technologies, and large-scale infrastructure environments.“My professional career was developed within the telecommunications sector, where I built a strong foundation in end-user service delivery and enterprise ICT operations,” Ileka says.“This progression strengthened my capabilities in infrastructure management, cybersecurity practices, and delivering secure and reliable systems," she adds.Her time at Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) further shaped her technical approach in a fast-paced environment where system reliability and service quality were critical.For Ileka, the ICT sector is rapidly evolving, driven by cloud computing, cybersecurity, automation, and hybrid work models. She sees major innovation opportunities in cloud security, infrastructure automation, and artificial intelligence.“I believe the greatest opportunities lie in cloud security, automation, and AI-driven solutions,” Ileka notes. “These can improve efficiency while strengthening cybersecurity frameworks like Zero Trust.”Looking ahead, she aims to deepen her expertise, contribute to innovative security solutions, and grow into leadership roles where she can mentor others.Guided by values of integrity, excellence, and continuous learning, Ileka remains committed to building secure and resilient ICT systems.
