Blending communication and creativity, Shivute finds new home in real estate
Namatsi Lindiwe Shivute (23) began her professional journey at just 15 as a presenter on a Namibian Broadcasting Corporation children\'s show, an experience that taught her the importance of clear communication, confidence and engaging an audience.
Shivute explained that from there, she moved into marketing under the mentorship of Wellem Kapenda, who introduced her to the world of strategic brand building, client engagement, and creative campaign planning.
According to her, these early experiences shaped her passion for marketing, combining storytelling with strategic thinking and setting the foundation for a career where creativity meets results-driven execution.
She said starting her first corporate role at the age of 18, helped to hone her professionalism, communication and project management skills.
Joining Virgo Real Estates in June this year has been a natural progression, allowing her to combine her marketing and communication expertise with her newly formed passion for real estate.
As the social media marketing manager and a practising realtor in training, she says the role gives her the chance to merge creativity with industry knowledge while shaping the company’s brand and building her experience in the sector.
Before joining Virgo Real Estates, Shivute gained diverse experience working with various creative teams, which strengthened her skills in design, content creation and campaign strategy.
Fresh approach
Taking on both marketing manager and graphic designer responsibilities in her new role allows Shivute to fully integrate strategy with creativity.
A typical day at Virgo Real Estates involves managing the company’s branding and marketing across various platforms, including social media and property listing sites such as Base and MyProperty.
She handles content creation, campaign planning and engagement to keep listings and the brand fresh and appealing.
Several people close to Shivute have played a key role in guiding her career.
She has always had support from her parents, who would tell her to be unlimited.
Her 13-year-old sister, who looks up to her, and her best friends have also been a constant source of motivation. A mentor in her current workplace, Onakunle Jolaiya, has trusted her with responsibilities early on, something she said helped her build confidence, refine her skills and navigate the professional world with clarity.
Shivute said inspiration comes from observing trends in real estate, global creative campaigns and feedback from clients.
She believes that in today’s competitive market, strong marketing and branding are critical because they help build trust, attract clients and distinguish a company from its competitors. Every visual and message, she noted, communicates the company’s values and professionalism.
Open to learning
Looking ahead, Shivute sees technology, digital marketing and client experience shaping real estate marketing, with social media, virtual tours and AI tools continuing to play a bigger role in how properties are showcased and marketed.
She said she embraced the mindset of being multifaceted and open to learning from multiple experiences at a young age.
Beyond her work responsibilities, she also manages her side hustle, Blooming Bouquets, a flower business.
At the end of her working day, she often prepares bouquets for clients, balancing creativity and entrepreneurship alongside her marketing role.
Shivute believes in cultivating diverse skills and creating multiple streams of income, as each venture not only brings financial growth but also broadens her knowledge and strengthens her as a person. Her goal, she said, is to inspire other young people to pursue a variety of passions, never limiting themselves to just one path, and to approach life with curiosity, ambition and resilience.
