Windhoek Technical School Learners Inspired at My Zone CareerVX

Empowering the future workforce
Windhoek Technical School learners attended the My Zone Career VX 2024 event earlier this year where they were introduces to many different career opportunities and directions. The goal of the even was to inform the learners about their career options in the future.

On 27 September, learners from Windhoek Technical School attended the annual My Zone CareerVX held at the University of Namibia (Unam) main campus. Themed ,Meet the Unsung Heroes of the Workforce, 'the event provided a dynamic platform for young minds to engage with inspiring professionals and explore a multitude of career paths.

The CareerVX brought together schools from across Windhoek, offering learners the chance to interact with numerous exhibitors and hear from a lineup of influential speakers. The keynote speaker, Unam's Student Representative Council (SRC) president, Twapewa-Ashihe Mungoba, captivated the audience with her empowering message on the importance of resilience and determination in achieving one’s career aspirations.

Other notable speakers included Unam career guidance counsellor Angela //Naobes, who highlighted the significance of choosing a career aligned with one’s passion and strengths, and Edda Bohn, the deputy executive director of the education ministry. Bohn encouraged learners to take pride in all professions, emphasising the vital roles played by artisans, healthcare workers, educators, and other "unsung heroes" in shaping society.

The interactive sessions also provided invaluable insights into how to navigate the challenges of the job market. A Windhoek Technical School learner, Seychelles Job, shared, “Hearing the speakers made me realise there are so many opportunities out there. It has motivated me to work harder toward my goals.”

The My Zone CareerVX 2024 succeeded in equipping learners with knowledge, confidence, and a clearer understanding of the workforce, leaving them energised to pursue their dreams and explore the endless possibilities of their futures.
