Why do you think it is important for Namibia Students Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF) beneficiaries to pay back their loans after completing their studies?
Hilya Ngolo
It's important for beneficiaries to pay the money back, as it was a loan after all, and also so that it can add back to benefit others. It can also help with one's credit at the bank.

Without the loans being repaid, other worthy students cannot receive loans or grants that they deserve. This often closes off the avenue to tertiary education. This not only stunts the educational and academic development of the potential student; it also hampers the growth of Namibia.
Wilhelmina Ngolo
Yes, it’s very important, because at the end of the day, the money is needed to pay for other students as well. Students not paying back their loans will hinder others from getting funded as well. Students need to understand that they are responsible for paying back the loan that they are take out, just like it’s their right to be granted a loan.

Firstly, it will be fair paying back the money since it was awarded to you to further your studies. When you pay the money back, this money is again used to fund another student who finishes his degree. So, it is important to save the NSFAF from bankruptcy. It'll be impossible for them to fund over 10 000 new students almost every year

We should ask ourselves this question: Why should students pay back the money? They have their reasons and motives, but those do not have to be excuses. We are a young generation and we got to understand that the paying back of NSFAF monies is way too important as it helps to fund students. As the saying goes, a loan is not cleared from the holder, but placed onto another person — in this case, the taxpayers. So however lame and boring it sounds, please let us play our part and pay back the money for the sake of our kids.

I feel that it is important for NSFAF beneficiaries to pay off the loan, as the current students’ future depends on them. We all know education is costly nowadays and a lot of parents are unable to afford it. I think the way to avoid seeing students struggling and going through depression is for NSFAF beneficiaries to pay back loans after completing their studies.

I think it is important for the NSFAF beneficiaries to pay their loans off after studies, because it will help the government to raise more money for future students who are unable to pay for their studies. In addition, it will also encourage students to put more effort into their studies knowing that they are not studying for free. Therefore, students should start repaying NSFAF loan as soon as they find a job.
