On 5 September, Westside High once again celebrated a highly successful Entrepreneurship Day, a highlight on the academic calendar.In line with the Entrepreneurship syllabus requirements, subject teachers guided learners through the process of developing comprehensive business plans ahead of the event. These plans served as blueprints for the execution of their innovative ventures on the day.The school grounds came alive with stalls offering a wide variety of goods and services. From mouthwatering barbecue meat and kapana to homemade cakes and other creative products, learners showcased both their entrepreneurial skills and their flair for customer service.This year’s programme stood out not only for its vibrant entrepreneurial spirit but also for its smooth and well-coordinated execution.Remarkably, no disciplinary cases were reported, a testament to the careful planning of the Commerce Department and the dedication of the event coordinators - Mr Ganeb, Mr Ugam and Mrs Lauren Swartz. Their collective efforts ensured that every logistical detail was managed with precision.Reflecting on the event, Mr Ugam expressed his pride in the parental support extended to the Grade 9 learners and applauded the students’ commitment to excellence. Mrs Swartz further praised the learners for their creativity, professional stall set-ups, and effective business strategies.Learners also shared in the excitement. Grade 9 learner Jemimah Visenga was thrilled with the profit her stall generated, noting that her dedication and strategic planning had truly paid off.Entrepreneurship Day at Westside High not only fostered innovation and teamwork but also provided learners with a practical platform to experience the realities of business management, turning classroom theory into real-world success. In doing so, the event reflected the school’s mission to create a stimulating learning environment that enables each learner to develop to his or her full potential.
