Momentum helps add colour to Acacia Primary School

Situated in Rehoboth, Acacia Primary School opened its doors in February 2021. The school held a sponsorship handover ceremony on 16 June when the Momentum Metropolitan Empowerment Trust donated paint worth N$37 500.The trust is a charitable organisation founded in 2002 that provides financial assistance to Namibian community projects. Its aim is to assist community groups and organisations to improve their livelihoods and succeed in the areas of education, medical care and job creation. The trust is managed by a board of trustees who ensure that resources are allocated to meet objectives of addressing the needs of the previously disadvantaged through poverty alleviation and income generation. Pastor Braam Boshoff, who is a trustee of the Momentum Metropolitan Empowerment Trust, said: “It is with great pleasure we are here with you, on this wonderful occasion, to officially hand over this paint. We regard education as the foundation for prosperity”.New look“The donation was made last year, and we finished the job this year. The paint was aimed at painting the school outside, but there was more than enough so we also painted the classrooms inside,” Deon Cloete, Acacia Primary School’s acting principal, said.Trishaa Chaune, a grade one teacher at the school, was delighted about its new look. “I can’t wait for the second semester, for the learners to step into classes that look good,” she added.The trust focuses its efforts and resources on rural communities, with particular emphasis on the southern, coastal and eastern parts of the country. Project administrator Ariah Mokomele said they aim to accommodate members of the community in various ways. “We aim to meet the needs of all members within the community in different ways; the youth who require access to educational facilities; the adults who need skills to generate other forms of income, and the senior citizens,” she said.
