Drop a pad campaign

David Anna
The “Drop a Pad” initiative was created to motivate, inspire and empower people – both teenagers and adults – to donate sanitary pads for the benefit of the girl child.

Recently, Khomastura High School hosted an event where most of the learners generously donated pads. These are now stored in the Life Skills teacher’s office and are readily available for girls in case of emergencies.

Teenagers are the leaders of tomorrow, and instilling good values from a young age is essential. That is why Khomastura High School believes that the choices and actions students take today shape their future. The main idea behind the #DropAPad campaign is to encourage everyone to show care and consideration for the girl child.

The campaign received overwhelming support from both teachers and learners – including the boys – sending a strong message that menstruation is normal and nothing to be ashamed of. Teachers encouraged all the girls to collect pads whenever they need them, ensuring no one is left without support.

The campaign was a powerful reminder that actions speak louder than words. By coming together as a school community, Khomastura High School showed that small gestures of care can make a real difference in the lives of girls.
