ASS learners applaud schools that focus on discipline, creativity and opportunity

Learners at Academia Secondary School have praised the school for its dynamic approach to education, which combines strong discipline with creative and developmental opportunities that extend beyond the classroom.In a series of interviews, students expressed appreciation for the school’s efforts to foster not only academic excellence but also student engagement and leadership.“I like how my school comes up with ideas to entertain us,” said Sorisha Afrikaner, a Grade 11 learner, referring to regular student-centred events such as Vintage Day, debates, career days, and Independence Day celebrations amongst many others organsed throughout the school year. These activities aim to promote social interaction, creativity and school spirit.For some learners, involvement in extracurricular programmes has been life-changing.Gideon Samwel, a Grade 11 learner and active member of the school’s media team, credits Academia for opening doors to his future. “My school gave me the opportunity to join the media team, and I am grateful that they opened that door for me, which has opened many more doors for me,” he said. Samwel has since participated in regional media workshops and plans to pursue a career in communications.The school is also known for its structured environment and focus on discipline, which many believe contributes to the school’s growing academic reputation. “The discipline they instill in us pushes our school to the top because of the potential they see in us,” said Tuwilika Shangadi, also in Grade 11. “They challenge us to rise above our limits.”Academia Secondary School has seen steady improvements in academic performance and student participation in national competitions over the past three years. The school has implemented a number of learner development programmes, including leadership training, peer mentorship and academic clubs.
