Aspiring broadcasters shine at second WAP training session

The Society of Broadcast Veterans (SBV) hosted its second broadcasting training session at Windhoek Afrikaanse Privaatskool, marking another successful step in nurturing Namibia’s next generation of broadcasters.The session was insightful and wide-ranging, with participants demonstrating great enthusiasm and potential throughout the day.Kolie van Coller, one of the SBV’s founders and convenors, thanked mentors Marius Millard and Olga Millard for their contribution, noting that their extensive broadcasting experience added immense value to the learners’ development.Van Coller explained that the SBV believes in preparation, perseverance and purpose, a principle inspired by Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” He added that this strength is what they aim to instil in young broadcasters, guiding them to become skilled, confident and ethical communicators.Emphasising individuality and faith, Van Coller reminded the learners: “You have one voice out of about nine billion voices, just as unique as your fingerprints.” He stressed the importance of using that uniqueness to make an impact, noting that the veterans are eager to share their experience, knowledge and passion to mentor the next generation. Their goal is to equip learners with the discipline, courage and creativity to make their voices heard across the airwaves.A group photo captured the day’s energy and excitement, reflecting the dedication and teamwork of the participants. The SBV expressed optimism about the learners’ future, noting that their passion and potential are proof of a promising broadcasting landscape.The third training session is scheduled to take place in early October.
