Class of 2002 donates N$10 000
Alumni from Westside High School donated N$10 000 to the school to improve facilities and help fund ongoing projects.
The grade 12B class of 2002 from Westside High School donated N$10 000 to their former school at their 22-year reunion. The alumni gathered in Swakopmund [time] for a fun-filled and memorable event. They wanted to give back to the school that moulded them into the adults they are today.
The donation aims to help with the school’s development projects. A former classmate who now lives in the USA, [name], promised to create and sponsor a school website. This website will improve communication and the school’s online presence.
Another classmate, [name], who is an author, donated six books she wrote to the school library, giving students more resources to read and learn.
The former learners paid a visit to their alma mater and took a tour around the school. They looked at ongoing projects that the school has embarked on and noted areas that needed improvement within the school itself.
Auakotora Murangi Gomez, one of the organisers who now lives in the USA, explained the goal of the reunion: "We wanted to reconnect as a class, visit and give back to the school that helped shape us and build a community of former learners who support each other," she said.
The group encouraged other past learners from different years to do the same and support Westside High School. The reunion was not only about reconnecting but also about making a difference for the school and future learners.
