A messy Valentine’s Day

Valentine's Day is a day of love, but Jan Möhr Secondary School expressed love in a unique and breathtaking way.Instead of roses, the learners exchanged brooms, black plastic bins, rakes, and spades, and most importantly, they worked together to show love for their school.On 14 February, the learners of Jan Möhr held a cleaning campaign with the aim of showing love to the school. All grade 8 to 12 learners wore overalls and helped clean the school.The idea was originally met with a lot of negativity, but the principal, Mr Hashiti, made them realise that love is not only about two people; it's about how you treat others and the environment around you.Each grade was assigned a specific area to clean, and the most unbelievable yet best part was that everyone showed up to school that day in their cleaning clothes. Instead of red and white, we had blue, green, and black attire. The newbies were really excited because they didn't know there was such a thing as a 'messy' Valentine's Day. They cleaned their spots really well and their efforts were truly impressive.After the clean-up, the rest of the day was thoroughly celebrated with a bake sale, games and creative, memorable dancing. Sadly, all good things come to an end, and so did our messy Valentine’s Day – a day that will forever be remembered in the history books of Jan Möhr Secondary School.
