Windhoek Golf Club: A destination for golf and events

In an exclusive interview with Trevor Britten, general manager of Windhoek Golf Club, insights into the club's offerings and ambiance were unveiled, shedding light on its enduring appeal. Situated on the southern outskirts of Windhoek, the club boasts an 18-hole championship golf course designed by South African professional Ken Elkin and opened in 1994.

Speaking about the course, Britten remarked:

"The Windhoek Golf & Country Club offers a challenging yet enjoyable golfing experience for players of all skill levels."

He highlighted its sprawling 72 hectares of natural Namibian bushveld and vegetation, which provide a tranquil oasis with lush fairways and greens.

Regarding the clubhouse, Britten noted its modern design, stating: "The clubhouse is designed to blend seamlessly with the natural beauty of the course, offering stunning views of the surrounding area."

With a par of 72 and stretching over 6 199 metres in length, the Windhoek Golf Club attracts both locals and tourists seeking an unforgettable golfing experience. Britten's affirmation of the club's popularity underscored its status as a preferred destination for golf enthusiasts of all backgrounds.

Moving beyond golf, Britten highlighted the club's versatility in event hosting, citing spaces like the upper lounge – the Watering Hole - and the lapa as ideal venues for various functions. "We are very open to renting out this space for functions such as wedding receptions, meetings, seminars, birthday parties – for anything celebratory," Britten said, underscoring the club's commitment to accommodating diverse needs.



One-stop shop

Britten further added that the club also boasts a Pro Shop that serves as a central hub for golfers, offering a comprehensive range of equipment and services tailored to enhance the golfing experience for both members and visitors. Britten emphasised the shop's capacity to fulfil specific requests.

"The thing about a Pro Shop is that they can even source specific golfing equipment that you would like because it is meant to enable players."

In addition to retail services, the Pro Shop offers rental options for those who may not have their own equipment readily available. Furthermore, Britten noted the Pro Shop's role in facilitating bookings for additional amenities, such as golf carts.

"You book everything at the Pro Shop, including the carts, the clubs, and so on."

This centralised approach streamlines the reservation process, providing convenience for patrons as they plan their golf excursions.
