Trade ministry hosting public consultations

The Ministry of Industrialisation and Trade is tasked within its mandate to facilitate and strengthen stakeholder engagements, dialogue and cooperation. Pursuant to the lofty ideals embedded in our “Growth at Home” concept and strategies, Honourable Lucia Iipumbu, Minister of Industrialisation and Trade) and her Ministerial delegation continue to undertake national consultations.It will involve various stakeholders namely, local authorities, consumers, business community as well as political office bearers on matters pertaining to the administration of the Liquor Act, Act no 6 of 1998, the implementation of the National Consumer Protection Policy as well as the Namibia Investment Promotion and Facilitation Bill (NIPFB). The ministry is taking the public stakeholder consultations to the north eastern regions namely Kavango East and West respectively. The main aim of these consultations remain to consult with the stakeholders to allow them to form part of the discussions and in turn inform required decisions and solutions; understand their focus on issues pertaining to specific economic matters; an exchange of ideas on how the ministry can be of support especially in areas within its mandate and how growth in industrial capacity can be achieved. The previous public engagements made meaningful contributions on the subjects of discussion and the ministry will incorporate such significant ideas into ministerial plans, programs and strategies. On 8 February 2023, Hon. Lucia Iipumbu and her team will be in Rundu to centralize both regions. The public, business community and interested stakeholders are encouraged to attend. The event will take place at Hotel Rundu and the starting time of the event is 10h00 in the morning. The effort is primarily aimed at fostering accelerated growth for economic activities in the country and all inputs from stakeholders will form part of the ministry’s Industrial implementation strategy.
