NBL and QKR partner for responsible drinking

Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) and QKR Namibia Navachab Gold Mine have launched a strategic partnership to promote responsible alcohol and moderate consumption on Friday, 22 August 2025.The programme equips employees with the knowledge, skills, and support to make informed decisions about responsible and moderate consumption, impacting the broader Namibian corporate sector’s commitment to fostering a culture of responsibility and wellness in one of the nation’s key economic sectors.Through a “train-the-trainer” model, NBL provided specialised alcohol awareness training to QKR Namibia Navachab Gold Mine’s Wellness Practitioner and designated staff. This approach ensures that employees receive ongoing, support while fostering a culture of care, empowerment, and resilience across the mine. “This partnership is awareness—but more than that, it’s about building safer, healthier workplaces where employees are confident in making responsible choices. By combining NBL’s expertise with QKR Namibia Navachab Gold Mine’s commitment to employee wellbeing, we aim to make a meaningful positive impact in Namibia," said Franklin Angermund, NBL’s public affairs and sustainability manager.The initiative forms part of NBL’s ‘Brewing a Better Namibia’ strategy, which focuses on sustainable impact through the care of people and the environment. It builds on nearly two decades of NBL leadership in national campaigns such as ‘Don’t Drink and Drive’, leveraging experience to encourage behavioural change and responsible consumption nationwide. “This programme sets a new standard for employee wellbeing in mining,” said Tuafi Shafombabi, QKR Namibia Navachab Gold Mine’s communications officer. “Collaborating with Namibia Breweries Limited enables us to create safer, more productive work environments and reinforce a culture where informed decision-making is prioritised.”
