Maranatha Poultry unveils fully integrated value chain

Maranatha Poultry has reached a major milestone in Namibia’s agricultural sector with the establishment of a fully integrated poultry value chain, positioning the company as a key player in sustainable food production and market expansion.In a strategic move to control quality, ensure consistency and drive efficiency, Maranatha Poultry now operates across the entire poultry production cycle – from breeder farm and hatchery operations to processing and national distribution.At the foundation of this value chain lies the company’s breeder farm division, currently under construction and scheduled for completion by July 2026. Once operational, the breeder farm will house approximately 46 000 parent stock, forming the backbone of Maranatha’s long-term production capacity and genetic quality control.Already in full operation, the Maranatha hatchery has begun producing day-old chicks, with the first batches successfully distributed to the company’s network of farmers in Stampriet. Current production stands at 55 000 chicks per week, with infrastructure in place to scale up significantly to a capacity exceeding 500 000 chicks weekly.Reliable supplyThis initiative not only ensures a reliable supply of high-quality chicks but also empowers local farmers by integrating them into a structured agricultural ecosystem, contributing to job creation and skills development in rural communities.Complementing upstream operations, Maranatha Poultry’s abattoir, with Jeremy Geduldt as general manager, currently produces over 500 tonnes of chicken products per month, making it the second-largest producer of frozen poultry in Namibia. The facility adheres to strict quality and hygiene standards, ensuring that consumers receive safe, fresh and competitively priced poultry products.This level of production marks a significant contribution to Namibia’s local food supply, reducing reliance on imports while stabilising market availability.Expanding markets across NamibiaThrough its dedicated sales and distribution division, led by Theresa Greeff, Maranatha Poultry is rapidly unlocking new markets, particularly in northern Namibia, while simultaneously establishing reliable distribution routes to coastal regions and central Namibia.This expansion strategy ensures that high-quality poultry products reach both formal retail environments and informal markets, strengthening accessibility and affordability for consumers nationwide.Strengthening Namibia’s agricultural futureThe integration of the full poultry value chain reflects Maranatha Poultry’s long-term vision of building a resilient and self-sufficient agricultural system.
