Green industry consultation begin

The Namibia Green Hydrogen Programme (NGH2P), on behalf of the government and in partnership with the Environmental Investment Fund (EIF), invites stakeholders to participate in a validation workshop to launch public consultation on Namibia's proposed Sectoral Transformation Investment Plan (s-TIP).The workshop will formally open a two-week public consultation on the draft investment plan, which underpins Namibia's proposal to the Climate Investment Funds (CIF) Industry Decarbonisation Programme.According to the programme, the s-TIP is intended to provide a roadmap for decarbonising industry, support green industrialisation, and attract international climate finance.The plan could help Namibia secure up to US$250 million (N$4.19 billion) in concessional funding from the Climate Investment Funds, alongside more than US$1 billion (N$16.76 billion) in blended financing from multilateral development banks.The proposed investment framework focuses on developing shared infrastructure, supporting micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), and expanding community participation in new industrial projects.The draft plan reflects the outcomes of the CIF Joint Mission held in June 2026, during which government ministries, state-owned enterprises, multilateral development banks, private sector developers, financiers, academic institutions and civil society organisations refined the proposal. It also incorporates feedback gathered during stakeholder consultations held in the Erongo and //Kharas regions in April and May.Following the validation workshop, the draft s-TIP will be published on the Namibia Green Hydrogen Programme website for public review from 3 August 2026. The consultation period will remain open for two weeks, during which stakeholders will be able to submit written comments and recommendations before the investment plan is finalised.The validation workshop will present the near-final draft of the investment plan, outline the key outcomes of the June joint mission, provide an overview of Namibia's proposed industrial decarbonisation pathway and gather final stakeholder input before submission to the Climate Investment Funds.Participation is open to government institutions, private sector representatives, state-owned enterprises, civil society organisations, academic and research institutions, community groups, traditional authorities, development partners and members of the public.
