FNB, CoW partner for wellness

FNB Namibia and the City of Windhoek (CoW) have launched a workplace banking partnership to improve the financial wellbeing of the City staff.The agreement, sealed at a signing ceremony in Windhoek, will give staff access to a range of tailored financial products and financial literacy programmes to help them make informed money decisions.At the signing, Bolle Hans, head of public sector banking at FNB Namibia, said the deal was more than a formal partnership but a shared commitment to the financial wellbeing of staff who serve the CoW every day.“The signing of this agreement is more than a formal occasion. It represents a shared commitment to the financial wellbeing, empowerment and long-term prosperity of the employees who serve the CoW and, ultimately, our communities every day,” said Hans.He added that financial literacy and empowerment were closely linked to FNB Namibia’s purpose of helping people create and protect wealth.“We believe that financial empowerment starts with knowledge. While access to the right financial solutions is important, true financial wellbeing comes from understanding how to manage your money, make informed financial decisions and, importantly, protect your financial future,” Hans said.Timely intervention Metusalem Archie Nikanor, strategic executive for human capital and corporate services at the CoW, welcomed the partnership, saying the tailored nature of the financial products was particularly valuable to City staff.“We appreciate the structured approach FNB Namibia has taken in developing solutions that respond to the financial needs of our employees. We look forward to the positive impact this partnership will have in supporting their financial wellbeing and helping them make more informed financial decisions,” said Nikanor.Under the deal, CoW staff will have access to financial literacy programmes and education; preferential home loan rates to help staff achieve home ownership; competitive personal loans to provide responsible and sustainable access to credit; vehicle and asset finance to help staff acquire assets that can improve their quality of life and productivity; access to FNB’s banking, savings, investment, insurance, fiduciary and digital banking services; and debt consolidation solutions to help staff simplify and better manage multiple debts.While access to suitable financial products remains an important part of the deal, FNB Namibia says the initiative goes beyond lending, with financial literacy a key pillar.Elevating financial literacy The financial literacy programme will cover practical aspects of personal money management, including: understanding my money, managing debts, growing my money, protecting the things that matter, and leaving a legacy.The programmes are designed to help staff navigate financial pressures, including rising living costs, multiple debts and increasingly complex money decisions.“Our objective is not simply to provide banking products, but to equip employees with the knowledge and confidence to make informed financial decisions,” Hans said.The partnership will also give staff access to debt consolidation solutions. These are designed to help employees manage multiple debts with different providers by simplifying their financial obligations, improving affordability, reducing stress and helping them regain greater control over their finances.The initiative forms part of FNB Namibia’s broader workplace banking strategy, which aims to bring relevant financial products directly to staff at their workplaces. The approach is designed to improve convenience and accessibility while giving employees a more personalised banking experience.FNB Namibia says it looks forward to working closely with the CoW to ensure staff get maximum value from the partnership and have the tools and support needed to strengthen their financial futures.“We are excited about the journey ahead and look forward to working closely with the CoW to ensure that employees derive maximum value from this partnership,” Hans said.
