FirstRand expects earnings rise

FirstRand Namibia expects earnings and headline earnings for the year ended 30 June 2026 to be 10% to 15% higher than in the previous financial year, the banking group said in a trading statement.The group said the performance was supported by improved credit performance, growth in advances and franchise deposits, as well as rising customer numbers and higher transaction volumes.FirstRand Namibia said its audited full-year results were expected to be released on or about 10 September 2026.The guidance follows a strong performance in the previous financial year. FirstRand Namibia reported net profit after tax of N$1.9 billion for the year ended June 2025, up 12.2% from N$1.7 billion in 2024.Pre-provision profit before tax increased by 12.7%, driven by growth in net interest income of 8.9% and non-interest income of 10.7%, while operating costs increased by 5.5%.Return on equity stood at 28.6% at June 2025, while net income after cost of capital was N$912 million. Net asset value per share increased to 2,676 cents from 2,329 cents a year earlier.The group's tier 1 capital ratio rose to 18.2% from 16.7%, above the board's CET1 target of more than 11.5% and regulatory requirements.At June 2025, advances stood at N$39.2 billion, up 3.9% from a year earlier, while deposits increased by 2.1% to N$45.6 billion.The company has not provided an absolute earnings forecast for the 2026 financial year. Its September results will provide the final figures.
