Comfort, character and a home away from home

A hidden gem in the city
STAFF REPORTER
On tonight’s episode of My.na Property, airing at 21:00 on DStv channel 285 and GOtv channel 25, presenter Glen-Nora Tjipura steps inside this charming establishment to speak with Jane Eyde, general assistant at the Hotel Pension New Nouveau about what makes this guesthouse a standout favourite among both tourists and locals.

Founded nearly 20 years ago by Cathleen Goedeman, Hotel Pension New Nouveau is the definition of a passion project turned success story. “There was nothing here,” Eyde recalls. “Miss Goedeman was part of the team that dug the first foundation. She built this place from scratch.”

The hotel has grown from humble beginnings into a fully serviced guesthouse that balances elegance, comfort and personality in every corner. With its wildlife-inspired décor, calming natural tones and lush gardens, the hotel aims to provide more than just accommodation – it offers serenity. “We strive to create a tranquil, homely space,” says Eyde. “Our décor reflects that: each room has its own character, but the overall feel remains warm, clean and welcoming.”

The hotel also adjusts seasonally to meet guest needs, offering extra blankets and heaters during winter, and light linens and blooming gardens in summer to create a refreshing ambience.

The establishment is known for being a one-stop shop for travellers. Alongside its comfortable rooms and wholesome daily breakfasts, guests can also enjoy laundry and ironing services, secure on-site parking, airport transfers, and assistance with car rentals and safaris.

Enjoy your entire stay

“Whether it’s a business trip, a holiday, or just a short city escape, we help guests plan and enjoy their entire stay,” says Eyde.

While international travellers make up a large part of the guest list, the hotel also caters to local and regional visitors, as well as business travellers who appreciate the establishment’s consistency and central location. “We’re located near hospitals, shopping centres and cultural landmarks, yet when you’re in our garden, you feel like you’re far from the city,” Eyde adds.

As part of its commitment to responsible tourism, Hotel Pension New Nouveau encourages water-wise practices, including towel reuse, and uses eco-friendly cleaning products to reduce environmental impact. “It’s all about preserving resources without compromising the guest experience,” Eyde notes.

Perhaps the most telling sign of the hotel’s success is its loyal clientele. “Many of our guests return year after year,” Eyde says proudly. “They say it feels like coming home.”

Whether you’re visiting Windhoek for business, pleasure or just passing through, Hotel Pension New Nouveau offers more than just a place to sleep – it offers a place to belong.
