Celebrating 15 years: The Windhoek Boeremark

Tjil was at the monthly Windhoek farmer's market this past weekend as part of its 15th anniversary festivities, engaging with readers and community members in a vibrant family-friendly atmosphere.

Usually held on the first or last Saturday of the month, the Boeremark has become one of Windhoek’s most popular community markets, offering a platform for local farmers, artisans, entrepreneurs and food vendors to showcase their products.

Established in 2011, the market has grown from just 21 stalls to more than 100 exhibitors, attracting visitors from across the country. It was founded to create opportunities for small businesses and home-based producers while providing residents with access to quality local goods.

Visitors to the market enjoyed a variety of food, handcrafted products, fresh produce and entertainment while celebrating the market's milestone anniversary. The event highlighted the importance of supporting local businesses and fostering community connections. PHOTOS Annemarie du Toit
