Bank Windhoek supports agricultural training
Support
On Thursday, 6 October 2025, Bank Windhoek through the Capricorn Foundation, announced a N$224,000 funding initiative to support agricultural training in Namibia. This initiative will
enable customers and staff members to attend accredited programmes at the Agra Agricultural Training Academy, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to sustainable agriculture and food
security.
Agriculture remains a vital sector in Namibia, contributing approximately 5% to the country’s Gross Domestic Product and serving as a primary source of livelihood for many Namibians. This investment will directly contribute to the development of skilled agricultural professionals, supporting the Capricorn Foundation’s mission and the nation’s priorities.
The funding initiative exemplifies the shared vision of Bank Windhoek through its Corporate Social Responsibility funding vehicle the Capricorn Foundation, and Agra to promote sustainable
agricultural growth. Training and upskilling of farmers are central to impacting productivity and food security in Namibia.
Agra Provision, a subsidiary of Agra Limited, is recognised as a leading provider of agricultural training in Namibia. The Academy offers a range of accredited courses and diplomas, tailored
to Namibian conditions and recognised in both Namibia and South Africa. These programmes are accessible online, ensuring broad reach and inclusivity. Testimonials from past students
highlight the Academy’s positive impact on skills development and career advancement.
With agriculture being a strategic focus for Bank Windhoek, the announcement was made at the Bank Windhoek Agri Series, established in 2019, which serves as a platform for dialogue,
empowerment, and progress in Namibia’s agricultural community, promoting inclusion and resilience through knowledge exchange and collaboration. This year’s focus on genetic diversity
is seen as pivotal for improving quality, resilience, and yield, securing the future of agriculture in Namibia.
