ACV growing in leaps and bounds

Africa Commercial Vehicles (ACV) was established in 1995, when it became the first authorised Iveco dealer in Namibia. More recently, it has incorporated the FAW and New Holland brands.
Africa Commercial Vehicles (ACV) has built a proud heritage as a commercial vehicle dealership over the past 26 years. The company was established in 1995, when it became the first authorised Iveco dealer in Namibia.
My.Na Cars recently spoke with the ACV team to find out what makes their motoring blood tick.
"We started as an Iveco dealer in 1995 with a branch in Walvis Bay, and then we opened the Windhoek branch in 1996. And then, for many years, we were just an Iveco dealer. In 2018, we decided to expand the dealership and diversify a little bit," ACV director Jakkie Coetzee said.
Coetzee explained that the company has been on an expansionary path, incorporating the FAW and New Holland brands in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
"We onboarded the FAW brand, and in 2019, we further diversified to include the New Holland Agriculture brand."
Contributor to the Namibian economy
ACV plays its part in contributing to Namibia’s development, he added.
"In terms of staff, in 2010 we were about 30 employees, and today we have more than 50 employees. We are also trying to build the economy and contribute to job creation while we are building the business," he said.
Coetzee noted that Namibia's vastness is in no way a limiting factor for ACV's ability to attend to the needs of its customers, who might need a service to be conducted or a breakdown to be attended to.
"Because Namibia is such a big country, sometimes there is a small breakdown or small service to be done. It’s very expensive to drive all the way from Windhoek, so we have long-term relationships with local companies in the smaller towns, so they attend to that ... we try and support our customers if something does happen," Coetzee said.
Focused on customer satisfaction
Coetzee said ACV offers three quality brands.
The FAW, New Holland and Iveco brands "are three wonderful brands, and we enjoy great support from the original equipment manufacturers in South Africa," he said.
He added: "At the moment, we have a drive towards getting our house in order because there are some internal systems we need to smooth out."
According to Coetzee, the company has enhanced its service offering by ensuring staff are available at all times should a new vehicle or a vehicle part be required.
"We are available 24/7, whether it's workshop parts or new vehicle sales," he said.
New premises
In October 2018, ACV moved into its new 1 850 square metre building next to the A1 national highway en-route to Okahandja. The workshop consists of 18 work bays, 4 electric lifts and 2 x 16-metre work pits. In its parts storeroom, ACV stocks all the necessary service and maintenance spare parts for the Iveco, FAW and New Holland ranges.
