From extraction to investment
China's new focus is more on industrial production, job creation, investments that lead to African exports, and productivity-enhancing agricultural and digital technology opportunities, says Lauren Johnston, senior researcher at the South African Institute of International Affairs, and an associate professor at the China Studies Centre at University of Sydney in Australia.
