Die dood van die negejarige dogtertjie op Hardap-plotte het seer gevoelens veroorsaak onder die inwoners van Mariental. Swart en wit het mekaar beledigings toegevoeg op sosiale media en die politieke leiers in die dorp het die vlamme van haat aangeblaas. Dis teleurstellend dat harmonie en vrede geskaad is onder Mariental se inwoners. Ons het meer verwag van die politieke leiers. Hulle is veronderstel om met wysheid en kalmte beheer oor hul ondersteuners uit te oefen, nie om politieke punte aan te teken nie. Mag mense soos biskop Kameeta Mariental se politici inspireer wat ware leierskap is.

Na aanleiding van verlede week se noodlottige ongeluk. Ons het ook al verskeie kere 'n jaagduiwel in 'n wit Merc (reg no is bekend) op die uiters gevaarlike lughawepad tussen Finkenstein en Windhoek teegekom. Die persoon het geen respek vir padreëls soos spoedbeperkings, sperstrepe of vir ander padgebruikers nie. Een of ander tyd gaan hy mense doodry. Waar is ons verkeerspolisie? (Om nie eers te praat van die peperduur, nie-werkende spoedkameras nie.)
