Statement of national concern

Mandy Rittmann
AUGUST MALETZKY FROM THE AFRICAN LABOUR & HUMAN RIGHTS CENTRE WRITES:Dear Madam President Nandi-Ndaitwah, are we honestly supposed to believe that you are the messiah we waited for almost four decades?

How can we, with any trace of honesty, continue to chant “One Namibia, One Nation” when the entire intelligence and security infrastructure of this country is now blatantly monopolized by one tribe?

The recent appointment of the former Navy Commander as the new Head of the Namibia Central Intelligence Service (NCIS) is not only a grotesque act of political recycling but a dangerous and deliberate consolidation of tribal hegemony. This is not national service – it is tribal occupation of national institutions.

At present, the heads of the Police, Army, Navy, and Intelligence are all drawn from the same tribal background – the Ambo tribe. This is not by coincidence. It is by design. A design that spits in the face of the Constitution, mocks the ideal of unity, and drags this Republic back into the dark alleyways of apartheid-style ethnic patronage.

This tribal capture is war-provoking nonsense. It is a direct threat to our national peace, national identity, and the very fabric of democratic governance.

How dare we speak of reconciliation, unity, or pride when tribal loyalty has become the only passport to power in Namibia’s critical institutions of state security? What signal are we sending to the rest of the nation? That if you are not of a certain tribe, you will never lead? That patriotism is tribalism in disguise?

Namibia belongs to all her people. No tribe is superior. No group has a divine entitlement to rule. The current trajectory is not only unconstitutional and unjust – it is explosive.

We demand the immediate end to this tribal monopoly. We call on all Namibians – regardless of tribe, class, or affiliation – to rise against this dangerous trend before it is too late. This is not unity. This is an occupation. This is not governance. This is a soft coup against the Republic.
