Aandlug is grys en vaal.

Iewers het die mis verdwaal.

Bome se blare oppi vloer.

Noordwester wind is aan die roer.

Sagkuns val die eerste reent.

Woestyn is dankbaar virri seen.

Koud kom jy ingewaai.

Skuite wieg teen die kaai.

Vasgevang tussen vier mure.

Bibberend tel ek die ure.

O, winter koud en vaal.

Tussen komberse het ek verdwaal.
