Not an isolated issue

CONCERNED NAMIBIAN WRITES:

I write anonymously to raise concern about the growing lack of fairness and transparency in the public sector in Namibia. For example, internship placements particularly in the medical field.

Many qualified applicants are left without feedback, their names missing from official systems, and decisions are only communicated after persistent follow-ups. What is deeply troubling is the widespread perception among young professionals that opportunities are consistently benefiting one ethnic group, while others are excluded without a clear explanation.

This is not an isolated issue. Similar patterns are seen across other career paths in the public sector. When selection processes are opaque and outcomes appear predictable along ethnic lines, trust in national institutions is eroded.

Namibia belongs to all its people. Training opportunities, especially in critical sectors like healthcare, must be allocated fairly, transparently, and on merit. Silence and inconsistency only fuel suspicion and division.

We want to see change. Equal opportunity must move from policy statements to real practice.
