Heal the nations, Lord

Mandy Rittmann
EUNICE ANN VAN ZYL WRITES:

When I read the article about gender-based violence in Republikein, 24 November, the words of Mr. Kauandenge reminded me of the words of Adam when the Lord asked him why he disobeyed the Lord.

Genesis 3:12 (New International Version)

“The woman You put here with me, she gave me some fruit from the tree and I ate it.”

So, it is today. Men put the blame for their aggressive, shameful behavior on the women.

I believe the root cause of this problem is a spirit of anger. I know that I have written about this issue before and called it the new scourge of the nations. From the dictionary scourge: “Something that causes a lot of harm or suffering.”

With due respect to God’s servants, the Church of which Jesus Christ is the foundation must address this tragic situation. Men especially must hear the truth of God’s word so that they can be set free from this stronghold.

Repentance of this unacceptable behavior will bring deliverance.

We know that in domestic arguments it will be the men that will use violence. They do not realise what sorrow it causes. When my husband was alive, I was quick to ask for his forgiveness when my behaviour was disrespectful. I was moved with compassion when I looked at the photo of the woman in the GBV article.

We must pray for the men of Namibia to need God’s word.

1 Peter 3:7

“Husbands in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.”

Often, we find ourselves looking critically at the inhumane treatment of women in some other religions. The people of the Christian faith must know better. These acts of terrorism against women must stop, so that healing can come to the nations.

2 Chronicles 7:14

“If My people who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
