Psalm 13:2,3: Hoe lank gaan U my nog bly vergeet, Here? Vir altyd? Hoe lank gaan U nog van my af weg kyk? Hoe lank moet ek nog my eie planne maak en my dae met kommer deurbring?

Dit is vir my moeilik om in ’n ry te staan en wag vir my beurt om gehelp te word. Ek probeer uitwerk hoeveel dinge vinniger of aanlyn gedoen kan word. Ek is seker dat jy met hierdie frustrasies kan identifiseer. Ons leef in ’n wêreld met kitsoplossings. Ons soek onmiddelike oplossings!

Om op die Here te wag is dus uiters moeilik. Wanneer God nie dadelik antwoord of help nie, raak ons teleurgesteld. Ons raak selfs afgunstig wanneer God ander voor ons help! Die digter van Psalm 13 is duidelik in nood. In die eerste paar verse vra hy vier keer: hoe lank nog? Hierdie gevoel van God se afstand en traagheid om te reageer staan teenoor die belofte van die teenwoordigheid van God in Num 6:24-26.

Ek dink elke persoon wat hom- of haarself ’n Christen noem, het hierdie gevoelens van verlatenheid ervaar. Christus het dit ook beleef. Ons het ’n medereisiger in Hom wanneer die lewensreis moeilik word. Hy het deur dood en hel gegaan. Op hierdie manier verseker hy ons dat ons diepste dieptes nie sonder sy teenwoordigheid is nie (Romeine 8:35-39). Miskien wil God ons oë vandag oopmaak om Christus raak te sien en ons hoop op Hom te vestig.

Here Jesus, dankie vir U teenwoordigheid in my stryd. Amen.
