ACC decentralize your functions

SEPO ORGANISATION WRITES:We are writing to the office of your esteemed newspaper with deep sorrow and disappointment. The socio-economic and political observers’ organization (SEPO) finds it mind boggling, learning that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is looking for and or are having excuses regarding the decentralization of its functions to the regions. What better option is there if not to give the rightful inhabitants of the respective regions to be the eyes and ears of their bread-and-butter issues. Corruption is not just about the hundreds and millions of taxpayer’s money being stolen by the political elites and the well connected. No corruption starts with the mismanagement at local authority and regional levels where there is no accountability and transparency. Hence the persisting poverty and lack of unemployment in the regions, esp. regions with so much potential. The ACC must stop lying to the Namibian Nation by telling us about lack of resources. Let the ACC rather tell the government to train the educated unemployed esp. the youth so they can carry out the duties with commitment. These individuals will be more than ready, willing and able since they are carrying the social, economic and political plight of their respective regions in their conscious day and night. The systems, institutions and processes President Geingob so often talks about are in the regions, it’s just a matter of capacitating them. ACC must not come and tell nonsense after 18 years of poor service delivery. Rather encage regional stakeholders and role-players to strategize which will assist in the materialization of the ACC’s functions being decentralize. Please Namibians and all other interested parties in full support of the fight against corruption, let us join our resources to ensure that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) decentralize its functions to the regions.
