A shameful waste

Since theCovid-19 pandemic started, Namibia destroyed 318 000 vaccines. At the present snail’s pace, we are projected to lose another 350 000 vaccines this year through expiry.
Winter has arrived. With the cold, people crowd in closed homes and transport. The transmission by air (cough and sneeze) is democratic.
The next wave of Covid-19 is here and public protection through vaccination is below 30%. We also face the winter influenza. Our goal of 70% herd immunity is out of reach, due to ignorant hesitancy and apathy. The last winter (June/July 2021) was deadly.
If we embrace Ubuntu/Harambee, we can overcome Covid-19. We cannot afford to waste the window of opportunity by allowing vaccines to expire.
Other measures, masks, hand hygiene, uncrowding (social distancing) must not be relaxed until spring.
We have to apply common sense, otherwise we will pay the price of socio-economic distress. We cannot survive on denialism.
Can we offer a vaccine reward incentive like Namdeb?
