MultiChoice Namibia has officially announced the productions from the second phase of its local content project – Ombura.

Over the past few years, the video entertainment company embarked on a unique mission to produce authentic, Namibian stories and take them to the world through Ombura.So far, close to 19 films, one lifestyle series and one documentary have been produced, appearing on DStv, GOtv and Showmax. However, 2025 brings even better news – new projects will be making their way to Namibian screens at the end of the year!“This year, we continue our commitment to hyperlocal storytelling with productions that reflect the culture, language, and realities of our audiences,” said MultiChoice Namibia Managing Director, Roger Gertze. “Beyond storytelling, we are actively investing in the future of African film and television by training, funding, and supporting the next generation of local talent. Because when Africa tells its own stories, the world listens.”The projects are as follows: ‘Op Pad Met My Potjie’, a local cooking series featuring the stunning Joalette de Villiers has been picked up for season 2!; ‘Bora Box’, which will premiere on Channel O, is a new music request show which will uncover the rhythm of Namibia, taking viewers on a journey where music, culture, and community meet; ‘Crossover Hearts’ is a new romantic film directed by MultiChoice Talent Factory alum Lucia Kim Hamunghete which follows a young couple from different cultures battling prejudices and family expectations; Desert Film’s ‘The Long Road’ details the life of a struggling factory worker who has been abandoned by his pregnant wife and attempts to redeem himself; ‘Oppiplaas’, a romantic drama, is about a city girl launching a social media business and reluctantly takes on a struggling farmer as a client – but do sparks fly?; The popular Afrikaans programme Groen Namibië will make its way back to our screens on kykNET for an exciting new season; “My F*k, Marelize,” a feature film inspired by a viral video from Namibia will be on your screens soon, produced by MultiChoice and an exciting new documentary is on the way!“On behalf of the Namibia Film Commission, a huge thank you to MultiChoice Namibia, and this phenomenal team," said Esther Beukes, the Namibia Film Commission’s board chairperson said. “Your investment in our industry isn’t just about making TV, it’s about making history.”
