General mine worker
Their roles would include general support duties within the mine and specified areas. They work to assist with site preparation and clearance, maintaining general site tidiness, assisting in the operation of tools and equipment, cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment, collecting samples and contributing towards site safety and security. Performing tasks as directed by the Line Manager and working using their own initiative within specified criteria.
As directed by the Line Manager, they are to assist with general site storage, lifting, fetch supplies, unload and check deliveries and undertake tasks to assist tradesmen generally. This also includes assisting with regular checks and assessments of all site areas.
Some other mine duties include mining ore, coal and rocks in an underground setting; designing and building supportive entryways for transportation to and from the mines; operating explosives to break up large groups of ore and rocks and driving underground mining equipment to transport resources from one location to another.
